Facilities

Our facilities at Camp Thunderbird include a main lodge that seats 125 people with a commercial kitchen, three dormitory-style bunkhouses that sleep ~30 people each, and 100 combined. Two restroom/shower houses with hot water, a beautiful outdoor chapel, screened-in recreation building, a group fire pit, a large covered gazebo, a basketball/volleyball court and sporting equipment, a swing set, horseshoes, and firepits, picnic tables, and grills are scattered about the grounds.

 

Linens and laundry are not provided. Ice and firewood are available at cost. Free wifi is provided and cellular service is accessible depending on your provider.

Activities

Camp Thunderbird is located right in the Gila National Forest! There are plenty of activities and sights to see within a short distance of the Camp. The Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument is just 23 miles away with a stunningly scenic drive there. Lake Roberts, known for trophy Largemouth Bass, is only 9 miles away and offers fishing and boat access. Bear Dam Lake and the Gila River are also some great fishing spots. Camp Thunderbird is right at the crossroads of multiple hunting zones offering trophy game including, elk, deer, and turkeys. Being adjacent to the National Forest, Camp Thunderbird offers easy access to horseback/off-roading trails that go on for days. Many other attractions including the Jordan Hot Springs, City of Rocks State Park, ghost towns, hiking trails, etc... Our location is a great central location for the outdoor lover!
